A Guthrie convenience store was robbed Thursday morning. The suspect carrying a weapon demanded and took off with money from the cash register.
Just after 5 a.m. a white male entered the recently opened Love’s Travel Stop, located at the I-35 and Highway 33 corridor, demanding money. At first, the clerk thought the suspect was playing, but the suspect showed the clerk he was serious by opening his coat and revealing a semi-automatic weapon.
The suspect ordered the clerk to a back room. The clerk then informed a manager about the situation. The manager went outside to confront the suspect without knowing the suspect was armed. The suspect ordered the manager back into the store.
Investigators are working on leads, but are not receiving detailed information.
It is unknown how much money was taken. The clerk could only describe the suspect as being white and drove away in a dark-colored SUV in an unknown direction.
