For the seventh consecutive year, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has designated Langston, Oklahoma as a Regional Site for Veterans Day programming.
The Wm Conrad Veterans Memorial Gardens located at 313 Turner Street in Langston will host the November 11, 2023, Veterans Day Observance program at 11 a.m. In case of inclement weather, the alternate program site will be the Langston University Wesley Foundation Center 777 Sammy Davis Jr. Drive
The Fred Gragg Veterans Appreciation Luncheon will be held at the LU Wesley Foundation Building, immediately following the Veterans Day program. A special added Social Event – BINGO – will be added to this year’s Gragg Luncheon!
To round out Langston’s Veterans Appreciation Weekend, New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 222 N. East Hale Street, will host the 10th Annual Veterans Appreciation Worship Service on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at 11 a.m. Immediately following the Worship Service, the Ladies of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. will serve Sunday Dinner to Veterans and their families, also for the 10th year.
All Veterans and the public are invited to be a part of the Town of Langston City’s Veterans Day Observance and Veterans Appreciation Weekend.
The official Veterans Day Observance will begin with a Coffee and Pastries Reception at 10 am at the Wm Conrad Veterans Memorial Gardens, weather permitting; the alternative site will be the Wesley Foundation Building. The formal ceremony will begin promptly at 11 a.m. “SERVICE” is the national theme and will be the dominant and resounding element in each program over this Veterans Appreciation Weekend.
