The girls of the GameTime Stars are only accustomed to winning – and frequently. The girls claimed a miraculous eight first-place finishes, including their fourth straight Oklahoma state championship and three consecutive national championships. However, arguably their biggest accomplishment was in Orlando at the 14UB World Series. With an overall record of 70-9-1 in USSSA play, a World Series championship would be a very fitting ending to a spectacular season.
The girls began pool play with three consecutive wins, tying The Cage 4-4, and defeating ICE Fastpitch 14U Blue and EMR Softball Club 14U 13-3 and 3-2 respectively. Heading into bracket play, the girls started off with an impressive 11-1 victory, sending a message to the rest of the tournament field that the Stars were more than capable of scoring runs in bunches. In their next game, the Stars had a close call in the form of a 6-5 win versus the Mobile Thrillers, edging their opponents out in the late innings. Their next victims were the PA Poison 14U and Florida Gold – providing the medicine to the Poison in the form of a 4-2 victory – and downgrading the Gold into Silver, shutting out their opponents, 3-0. In the semi-final matchup, the girls sought a rematch versus EMR Softball Club 14U, shutting out and eliminating their opponents, 5-0.
Moving onto the championship game, the Stars were going to need to be defeated by Maniax – South twice. Needless to say, the Maniax proved no match for the Stars, defeating their opponents 10-0 and 8-0 to claim the World Series title. The girls accumulated a record of 9-0-1, scoring 67 runs while only allowing 17. Additionally, the girls averaged nearly seven runs per contest, while holding their opponents to under two, proving they were both offensively and defensively superior to the rest of the tournament field. Due to her spectacular play, Halle Melone was named Tournament MVP, with Guthrie’s Bailey Shaffer being named Outstanding Pitcher as well.
In his fourth year, Rusty Fisher manages the GameTime Stars, accumulating an overall record of 78-12 in USSSA play. The Stars are comprised of Tayler Babb, Mariah Ewy, Macy Fisher, Corrie Flanagan, Sha Ingram, Jennifer Marwitz, Halle Melone, Kristen Prieto, Reagan Rogers, Bailey Shaffer, Rachael Toft and Abbey Warren.
