Shawnee walks by Guthrie, 11-3

Monday night’s softball game between Guthrie and Shawnee was not well-played from either team, but Shawnee opened the game up in the fifth inning to get the ugly win.

With the loss, Guthrie falls to 3-4 on the season while Shawnee improves to 2-1. With the loss, Guthrie snaps their two game win streak.

The Lady Wolves piled up 22 baserunners on just seven hits in their home debut. The remaining 15 came from base on balls and hit batsmen. Guthrie pitching allowed 9 hit by pitch including hitting Shawnee’s Erin Bonner four times.

Guthrie drew just three walks, but did collect seven hits in the Suburban Conference match-up.

Shawnee struck first with two runs in the home half of the second inning before Guthrie rallied in the fourth two tie the game at 2-2.

The Lady Wolves regained the lead for good in the fourth inning with two more runs and put the game away in the fifth inning by pushing five runs across the plate.

Guthrie got back on the board for the final time in the sixth inning, but Shawnee piled on two more runs in the sixth to run-rule the Lady Jays. The final run scored on a hit batsmen.

The Lady Jays were set to host Harrah for their first game at home this season on Tuesday, but the game has been cancled along with Junior High Softball.

  1. Why do you not ever mention the JV softball? They had a win aganist Shawnee and a few of the girls had awesome plays and hit. They are a part of the team as well..
