Sisters from Tucson raise money for animal shelter

The Guthrie Animal Shelter continues to receive donations from all over the United States with the latest coming from Tucson, Arizona.

Ava (left) and Kyla Boxley are pictured with Animal Control Officer Suzy Brown after the Boxley's donated to the shelter.

Ava Boxley,5, and her sister Kyla Boxley, 2, love all animals and wanted to help out the animal shelter that was damaged in the May 24th tornado.

The two young girls are on summer vacation visiting their grandparents (Gary and Tami Boxley) and on their vacation raised and took donations to go toward the shelter. Ava and Kyla are the daughters of Eric and Dawn Boxley.

Just recently a Watonga girl, Madison Greer, donated all of her money that she earned from her lemonade stand in front of a hardware store.

Both donations and many others have been made to Animal Control Officer Suzy Brown. In return of the generous donations, Brown delivered a stuff animal to all three girls and thanked them for their generosity.

A temporary location which houses the animals is located at 927 East Prairie Grove Road. Animals can be viewed Monday through Saturday from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

If you wish to support rebuilding of the Guthrie Animal Shelter, in lieu of materials monetary donations can be made in person at Guthrie City Hall (currently the animals have sufficient supplies of food and litter). Checks can be made out to Guthrie Animal Shelter and brought to the Utility Office on the 2nd Floor or to the Police Department.

Donations can be mailed to: Guthrie Animal Control; c/o Suzy Brown; 306 West Oklahoma; Guthrie, OK 73044.
