It has not been the quick start for the Lady Jays Softball team this season, but it has been a traveled one.
The Lady Jays first seven games of the season will be played on the road, including today’s game on the final day of the Cushing Fall Classic. In fact, Guthrie could play 18 of their first 20 games of the season away from home, including 15 tournament games in Cushing, Perry, and Shawnee.
Guthrie (2-3) started the season with a 10-1 setback to Harrah in a conference game and quickly dropped to 0-2 with a 7-0 lost to Blackwell in the first day of the Cushing tourney, but their first win of the season came in a 12-0 shut-out over John Marshall in the second game of the double-header in the hot Oklahoma weather.
On the second day, Friday, once again the Jays split their games with a 5-0 loss to Catoosa, but responded with a narrow 2-1 win over the hosting Tigers.
Guthrie jumps back into conference play, on Monday, when (you guessed it) travel to Shawnee for a 6:00 first pitch. The first home game of the 2010 season is scheduled for Tuesday when they host Deer Creek.
