Sooner SUCCESS has several events upcoming this summer. Respite care is the number one unmet need among families contacting Sooner SUCCESS in Logan County. Unfortunately, Logan County has lacked in availability of respite care.
This summer Sooner SUCCESS will focus on filling this gap.
July 22, 2017 is the statewide Care to Bowl event. This event will raise funds for respite vouchers. Vouchers allow families to hire respite care providers of their choice. Bowling will cost $25.00 per person. Respite costs on average $10.00 per hour, so each person who signs up to bowl will be providing 2 and a half hours of respite to a family.

On July 29th from 1-4, Sooner SUCCESS will host a respite afternoon and SibShop at the Simple Life Center. Respite events allow families to take a much-needed break while their child with special needs is cared for in a fun, safe environment. Sibshops are recreational events for the brothers and sisters of special needs, aged 5 to 13 years. Community volunteers are needed to make this happen.
Respite volunteer buddies are paired one-on-one with a child and spend the afternoon coloring, painting, and playing games.
