Starbucks closures across Oklahoma, but Guthrie locations remains open

Starbucks announced a sweeping plan to close underperforming stores nationwide, impacting several Oklahoma communities. While seven locations in the state have shuttered, Guthrie’s Starbucks location and the store on Waterloo remain open and unaffected by the cuts.

The company’s “Back to Starbucks” plan, outlined in a Sept. 25 letter from CEO Brian Niccol, includes closing stores that were “unable to create the physical environment our customers and partners expect.” The overhaul is expected to cut around 900 jobs and save the company $1 billion.

In Oklahoma, the closures include:

  • Oklahoma City, Northwest 50th Street and North May Avenue
  • Tulsa, I-44 and 49th Street
  • Norman, West Boyd Street and Asp Avenue (Campus Corner)
  • Edmond, Broadway and 33rd Street
  • Wagoner, Blake Drive
  • Miami, Route 66 and 26th Avenue NW
  • Elk City, South Eastern Avenue and East 7th Street
