A state preliminary pageant for Our Diamond Miss will occur on September 29, 2024, at the American Legion Hall in Guthrie. Our Diamond Miss, a prestigious scholarship pageant system founded in Oklahoma in 1980, is open to local girls aged 0-19. This long-established pageant allows contestants to earn crowns, trophies, and discounted entry fees to the state pageant held in June.
At the state competition, the overall Baby winner and the overall Our Diamond Miss are awarded a diamond necklace on stage. The state and national pageants are hosted in Chickasha, Oklahoma, where girls from a five-state region gather to compete at the national level every year.
Guthrie High School alumni Avery Wooden and Sophie Evans are among the many local participants who have competed in Our Diamond Miss, holding multiple state and national titles. Through their involvement, they’ve learned valuable skills such as public speaking, interview techniques, talent development, and performing at a high level. Both Avery and Sophie have also embraced community service and mentoring younger contestants.
They’ve had a rewarding experience with Our Diamond Miss and are eager to encourage local girls to participate. For more information, please contact Donna Evans at devans8391@gmail.com or Dena Wooden at jndwooden@cox.net.
