More than a dozen Guthrie businesses were targeted in a sting operation to see if they would sell alcohol to minors. The Guthrie Police Department teamed up with Prevention Works Inc. for Friday’s sting. They visited several Guthrie businesses to see who would sell to minors and the results were mixed.
The non-profit group from Enid, along with the underage confidential informants, visited 16 establishments, including convenience stores, bars and liquor stores. Out of 16 retailers visited, 11 refused to sell alcohol while five establishments – two convenience stores, a liquor store and a bar – sold beverages to minors.
Those cited were Wilma Clare Lea Martinez, 48, Maranda Renee Gray, 27, Ali Asghar Khan, 38, and Phillip Clair Beman, 69. Fazal Ullah Khan, 40, was arrested on two complaints, including serving a minor. Each are set to appear in front of a judge on Monday.
For the 11 businesses who were in compliance were informed of the operation after they refused to sell to the minors and were applauded by the sting officials.
Prevention Works supervised the informants – who are not from Guthrie – during the compliance checks. The group generally comes to the Guthrie area twice a year.

DK’s Liquor Store – 823 ½ W. Noble
