11 a.m. Update: Guthrie area on the brink of blizzard conditions

Updated Monday Feb. 25 11 a.m. – With the latest information from the National Weather Service, Logan County and Guthrie is on the brink of blizzard-like conditions.

WeatherBeginning at noon and lasting through 6 p.m. on Monday, winds are expected to increase up 35 m.p.h. with gusts near 55 m.p.h. Rain is expected to end and changing over to snow in Central Oklahoma. A line appears to be forming from Stillwater to Guthrie to Oklahoma City to Wichita Falls. A trace to two inches is possible.

The weather service is still expecting six to eight inches of snow when the storm concludes Tuesday morning. The threat of snow drifts are still possible with strong winds.

Beginning at 6 p.m. and lasting until the early parts of Sunday morning, blizzard conditons will continue to presist with Guthrie and Logan County in an area that could be affected by the storm.

The Guthrie area remains in a Winter Storm Warning and Wind Advisory.

Sunday, Feb. 24 – A significant winter storm continues to stay on track to impact Guthrie and a good part of Oklahoma beginning Sunday night through Tuesday morning. Officials are saying to make today to prepare.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the Guthrie area and central and north-central Oklahoma overnight tonight through Tuesday morning. Precipitation is expected after midnight Monday morning as rain, with a few thunderstorms possible. The transition to snow will wait until early Monday afternoon. Forecasts show once the precipitation changes to snow, winds will increase out of the north at 20-40 mph, causing blowing/drifting snow and blizzard-like conditions.

Forecasts are showing the Guthrie area could receive three to eight inches of snow.

Travel will be impossible or extremely dangerous Monday through Tuesday.

Sporadic power outages may occur in some areas as 35 to 40 mph winds topple snow-covered trees and power lines.
