The Guthrie area was in need of rain, but not necessarily as much that fell in the short amount of time on Monday afternoon. The storm left several residents with storm damage and others without power. They perhaps need to browse available roofing services if there was any roof damage from the storm.
The thunderstorm brought sheets of rain, cloud to ground lighting and winds just before 5 p.m.
The Mesonet, the official rainfall tracker, recorded 1.54 inches of rain, but residents near Guthrie Lake saw three times that much in a span of sixty to seventy-five minutes.
Ditches and roadways down south Division and Sooner roads were filled with rolling water and in some instances completely covering the road way.
OG&E reported 132 customers without power and after midnight was still reporting the outages.
On social media several posted damage in their neighborhood from trees and fences down to trampolines being pushed away.
“Wow, I think we had a mini tornado south of town! The lake area is a mess!” Phyliss Stroup posted on the Guthrie News Page photo gallery.
The high winds may have caused a traffic sign near the south Guthrie exit (mile marker 153) to fall and block off one of the southbound lanes for a short period of time causing traffic to back up.
