With the celebration of ’89er Days ahead, the Guthrie Street Crew has been busy getting ready for the week that Guthrie will be highlighted for several thousands of people to see.
Crews have been spotted painting curbs, crosswalks, parking spots and light poles throughout the downtown area.
A crew member said many of those items had not been touched up since 2013 for the Mumford & Sons concert.
City Manager Leroy Alsup, who is set to partake in his first 89er Week as Guthrie’s top City employee, says Guthrie is in good hands.
“The City of Guthrie is fortunate to have a quality and multi-talented workforce,” Alsup said of the street crew. “City Employees are dedicated and work hard to provide quality services and to keep our community looking great. City Employees Rock!”
’89er Week is set to begin on Tuesday, April 18. Related article: 89er Days activity schedule; April 18-23
