Update at 7:55 p.m. — OHP has confirmed with Guthrie News Page the second person injured in the accident has passed away.
Update at 6:55 p.m. — OHP has reopened Highway 33 in both directions from this accident.
Update at 6:20 p.m. — OHP has confirmed with Guthrie News Page that the accident on Highway 33 and Broadway has resulted in one fatality.
Original article at 4:30 p.m. — An accident involving a sports utility vehicle and a recreational vehicle on Highway 33 has sent two people to OU Medical Center.
Emergency crews responded to Highway 33 and Broadway for the two-vehicle accident just after 3 p.m.
One female was transported to the hospital on ground and the other by a medical helicopter with unknown injuries.
Both victims were inside the SUV.
There were no injuries reported at the scene from anyone inside the RV.
According to a witness, the SUV failed to yield at a stop sign at Broadway and was struck by the oncoming RV, who was eastbound on Highway 33.
The impact resulted in the RV pushing the SUV for approximately 200 feet.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has not released the official cause of the accident.
Highway 33 remains blocked (as of 4:30 p.m.) between Academy and Broadway as crews continue to clear the scene.
