Early morning accident on Highway 74 claims one life

An early morning two-vehicle accident south of Crescent claimed the life of one person and another to the hospital.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Crescent Fire Department and Miller EMS responded approximately two miles south of Crescent on Highway 74 (near County Road 75) just after 5 a.m.

A 2009 Nissan Altima was southbound on State Highway 74 and a 2009 Ford F-550 (pictured above) was driving northbound on the highway.

The collision occurred in the southbound lane of the highway.

The accident remains under investigation by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol’s Traffic Homicide Unit.

The driver of the Altima, Suzanne Jewell, 62, of Crescent, and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck is identified as 22-year-old Koleton Arnett of Edmond. He was transported Mercy Logan County Hospital where he was treated and released for his inuries.

Both victims were wearing their seat belt.

Portions of Highway 74 was shut down in both directions for over five hours before being reopened at 10:30 a.m.
