The Guthrie Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #105, officially endorses Mayoral Candidate Trey Ayers and Council Candidate John R. Wood, Guthrie Ward 1.

Guthrie Police DepartmentBoth Ayers and Wood have accomplished a great deal in their time on the Guthrie City Council. Ayers has served six years on the council and Wood has served four years.

“Ayers and Wood have shown dedication to the Citizens of Guthrie and it’s employees. They inherited a troubled, financially distraught city government, and made smart decisions that have drastically improved the future of Guthrie,” said Jeremy Thorne, President of the Guthrie FOP Lodge #105.

Both Ayers and Wood helped create the first known City-wide comprehensive strategic plan, established a rainy day fund from budget savings, and implemented a number of regional partnerships.

They have also promoted Communication, Transparency, and Citizens Involvement in Guthrie with Citizens Academies. For example, the City has hosted three Citizens Government Academies, two Citizens Police Academies, and one Citizens Fire Academy.

They both also helped lead the City in bringing the first salary increase in almost ten years for Guthrie police officers, as well as the conversion of the 800 MHz radio system.

These policies and the professional and proactive Guthrie Police Department is why Guthrie has one of the lowest crimes rates in Oklahoma.

“We encourage all citizens of Guthrie to give their support to and vote for Ayers and Wood. These two have helped mold a strong future for Guthrie,” said Thorne.
