  1. Not sure who Jennifer Bennett Johnson is, someone said she is from south county, but JW is well known. should be an interesting race. Please be informed and vote for the good of our schools

  2. Jennifer Bennett lives in town and is the acting Chaplain, and President Elect for First Capitol Republican Women’s Committee. She has two children ages 11 and 14. She and her husband own Patriot Industries, LLC (the gun store at 211 E Oklahoma Ave). She works for OSU in the Physical Plant Dept.as a Project Manager. She attends church regularly at Fairview Baptist Church in Edmond under Pastor Paul Blair. She believes in conservative, small government and believes that Common Core is not the direction that Guthrie ISD needs to pursue.

  3. So who her pastor is and her opinion about a state law should lead us to vote for her???? Do her kids both go to Guthrie schools? I heard one doesn’t and one does…sounds like an agenda to me.

    • The first one to leave a comment (Steve) said he didn’t know who she was and had heard that she lived in south county. I was just providing a synopsis of her bio so the voters have an idea of who she is. To address your question, and Steve’s final comment, you should be informed about the candidates, their background, beliefs, and their view of state law especially to make an informed decision at the ballot box. The biggest problem with our system is that the voters do not get informed about the candidates before they vote. Both of her children go to Oklahoma public schools. One does online school and the goes to Guthrie High School. I appreciate your questions. I shows that you’re making sure you check out the candidates so you can make an informed decision.

Hi Tommy! I appreciate your interest! You did hear correctly, I do have one child that attends Guthrie High School, and as of this school year, we chose to school my son through Oklahoma Charter Schools (Oklahoma Educational Standards administered online). We selected the Charter School option, because he has ADHD (Attention Deficit Hiperactivity Disorder) and we found that he needed a more structured environment for learning than the teachers and facilities can offer. Everyone we worked with at G.U.E.S. was very supportive and helpful, but with 20 other children in their classes, it could be challenging for the teachers to “rein him in”, as well as, effectively teach the rest of the students. My interest in running for school board is to continue to play an active role in the education of my children in conjuction with the educators and administrators in our school district. I am sincerely concerned with the implementation of the Common Core standards that are being “pushed” onto the educational system, and instead of complaining about what was happening, I decided to express my concerns as a representative.
