The November 2022 Support and Certified Employee of the Month for Guthrie Public Schools are Tony King and Genie Myers.
Each was presented with a plaque and a $25 Sonic gift card for their recognition.
Tony, who works in child nutrition, is the November Support Employee of the Month and was nominated by Daniqua Bickell.
“Tony does so much for us here at child nutrition,” Bickell said in a nomination letter. “He runs food from one site to another and delivers our mail.”
Bickell said that Tony keeps the bugs and spiders away from the warehouse, and avoids Janette and herself from having a “panic attack.”
“He is truly a big asset to child nutrition and we would definitely struggle without him,” Bickell added.
Mrs. Myers is the librarian at Charter Oak Elementary School, and she was nominated by Shana Downs for her willingness to help.
“Genie is always willing to do whatever is needed to help out a student or coworker,” Downs said in her nomination letter.
Myers was recently named the Site Teacher of the Year at Charter Oak.
Downs said Myers spent a few weeks in her classroom as a substitute.
“She offered to be a familiar face to help my students maintain a sense of consistency during a recent extended absence,” Downs said.
At the same time, Myers made sure the library was covered and plans were made.
“I felt assured that my students would be taught and loved while she was in my class. She did all of this with a smile on her face.”
