Town of Cashion without water due to water line break

Updated Wednesday, May 29 (1 p.m.) — Logan County Emergency Manager Steven Haga said the broken line has been restored and water is flowing to water towers. Water is expected to be fully operational in the coming hours.

The town of Cashion has been left without water since Tuesday morning following a significant water line break. Logan County Emergency Manager Steven Haga informed Guthrie News Page that the issue began early Tuesday when crews were repairing a water main leak. After completing the initial repairs and starting to refill the water towers, they discovered another break in the line.

The break was located at Highway 33 between Meridian and MacArthur. Emergency management teams from Logan, Kingfisher, and Blaine counties are currently addressing the situation. According to Haga, it will take several hours to complete all the necessary repairs and refill the water towers.

“It’s still going to be several hours for all the repairs and for the water towers to fill back up,” Haga stated.

In response to the emergency, Blaine County is providing a water tank with potable water, and Cimarron Electric is supplying cases of water for the residents. The Cashion Fire Department also has tankers available for non-potable water needs.

Residents can access water at the football field next to Cashion High School. The entire town of Cashion, as well as nearby rural areas, are affected by the water outage.

Emergency crews are working diligently to restore water services as quickly as possible, but residents are advised to be prepared for several more hours without water.
