The Town of Langston celebrated a significant milestone this week with the announcement of a $600,000 grant to improve access to Langston Lake. The funding will support a comprehensive redevelopment project, enhancing two miles of Choctaw Road off the old Highway 33 and nearly a mile of County Road 75 leading to the lake.
The awarding of the grant was announced at Friday morning’s Logan County Board of County Commissioners meeting.
The successful acquisition of the grant is attributed to Mary Boyles, wife of Langston’s Mayor, Michael Boyles. Her efforts in securing the funds have been widely praised by the community and local officials.
Langston Lake, managed by the City of Langston, offers a variety of recreational facilities including restrooms, picnic tables, grills, pavilions, and a boat ramp. The lake’s eight miles of shoreline provide ample opportunities for residents and visitors to engage in outdoor activities.
The new project aims to further enhance the lake’s accessibility and appeal. Once completed, the improved roads will make it easier for people to enjoy the lake’s amenities. Families can rent out pavilions for birthday parties and family reunions, while fishing and boating enthusiasts can obtain the necessary permits to enjoy the lake’s waters.
With the addition of more convenient facilities and improved access, Langston Lake is set to become an even more attractive destination for recreational activities, fostering community engagement and promoting local tourism.
For further information on Langston Lake and to inquire about facility rentals or permits, residents are encouraged to contact the City of Langston’s administrative office.
