A welding trailer sparked numerous small grass fires along Interstate 35 as it traveled from Edmond to Guthrie on Wednesday morning.
The trailer somehow lost its tire near 15th Street, on I-35, in Edmond while traveling north bound. As result, the rim was releasing sparks and causing grass fires to break out all the way to Seward Road.
The truck came to a rest at the first Guthrie exit (mile marker 153).
Fire crews from Guthrie, Edmond, Oak Cliff, Sooner and Woodcrest responded to the fires that took less than an hour to put out. As many as eight burnt spots in the median was found from Seward Road to Waterloo Road.
