A Guthrie High School graduate and her baby are dead after being killed by the husband and father.

Tara Freeman Johnston, 29, and her and 16-month-old daughter, Allison, were found dead late Tuesday night on Teakwood Road near N.E. 122nd Street in Oklahoma City after Edmond police got an anonymous call.

Oklahoma City Police said Daniel Johnston, 29, was found dead late Tuesday night in a Las Vegas Hotel. He was a suspect in the murders. Daniel’s father, Charles Johnston, posted on his Facebook page that his son killed himself by cutting his wrists and ankles.

Daniel and Tara married in October 2010.

Daniel’s 1996 white Oldsmobile was seen being towed away from Will Rogers airport Tuesday evening.

Many classmates and friends have gone to Johnston’s Facebook page to share their thoughts and prayers for the family. Johnston graduated from Guthrie in 2000.

Classmate Ashli Acker said Tara was a quiet, but sweet girl, “Tara was really quiet. Sweet, sweet girl.”

Early reports say that Tara and Allison had been shot, but Oklahoma City Police said their cause of death is undetermined as is how long the bodies were in the home. The State Medical Examiner will perform autopsies to determine how they died.

  1. I hope that Tara and Allison did not suffer and that their deaths were quick and painless. As for the husband, I hope he suffers for eternity.

    • I’m sure you know by now, but Tara didn’t suffer. Allison however did. 🙁 I miss my girl more than anything.

  2. I have faith that god was with them and protected them from suffering. I know he will have to answer to god and as for the familys and the rest of us we will likely never understand why. I know Tara was a sweet, kind and gentle person when I knew her in jr.high. I believe god has taken both of those angels to a perfect place at home. I will be praying for everyones broken hearts who knew her well.

  3. So sad that his symptoms weren’t recognized and treated. Maybe this wouldn’t have happened.
