A Logan County deputy’s patrol unit was nearly struck after a man drove his vehicle through a high school tailgate party on Friday evening.
The Guthrie Football Booster Club was hosting a tailgate party outside of Jelsma Stadium before the first varsity game of the season.
Just after 5 p.m. a black, four-door Chevrolet Impala was traveling westbound on Harrison Ave. when all of a sudden it blew past a road barricade at Harrison Ave. and Wentz St.
The barricade was being used to block traffic from the large tailgate party.
Just inside the barricade was a Logan County deputy, who had just arrived and was sitting inside in his SUV patrol unit, was within a few feet from being struck by the vehicle.
The driver, whose name was not released at the scene, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.
The passenger was also arrested for five outstanding warrants.
There were no injuries reported at the scene.
