Updated on Oct. 23, 2016 — Law enforcement officers have began sharing their condolences with the news of Logan County Deputy Jason Wright’s passing on Sunday.
Deputy Wright suffered a heart attack while on duty on Friday evening. He was rushed to an Oklahoma City hospital and had been in a medical induced coma.
He was 33.

Law enforcement officers throughout the county are displaying their support for one of their own after a deputy suffered a major heart attack on Thursday evening while on duty.
Guthrie EMS responded to a call at a local restaurant for what was thought a seizure encounter. Guthrie police officers Scott Betterton and Clark Edelen were on scene within a minute and were unable to find a pulse and immediately began CPR to save the deputy’s life.
Deputy Jason Wright, 33, had suffered a major heart attack.
Wright was taken to the Mercy Logan County Hospital and eventually rushed to Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City. The EMS medical director and two paramedics were giving medical attention in the back of the ambulance for the 25 minute drive.
Wright remained in the intensive care unit on Friday.
Sheriff Jim Bauman said he is hopeful for the best and is thankful for the officers who began treatment at the scene while the ambulance was en route.
“We are praying for him and his family,” Bauman said who cutting his vacation short to return to his deputy.
“We are going to be there for the family and whatever they need we will take care of it.”
The hospital has been flooded with members of the sheriff’s office and surrounding police departments to be near the deputy.
Former Logan County Chief Deputy Richard Stephens and now Union City Police Chief was one of several who made their way to the hospital.
“I visited Jason and his wife Lindsay in the hospital this morning. I held Jason’s hand and prayed for him and his family,” Stephens, who hired Wright at the sheriff’s office, said in a social media post.
“I was so humbled to see that the staff and the family were honoring his service by displaying his Logan County Sheriff’s Office Patch on his bed.”
Wright is married with four young children.
