One of Guthrie’s most treasured buildings and museums received a scare last night with an upstairs fire.
The Guthrie Fire Department responded to a fire alarm call at the Oklahoma Territorial Museum, located at 406 E. Oklahoma, at around 9:30 p.m. on Monday.
According to Guthrie Fire Chief Eric Harlow, one of the building’s air conditioner’s motor overheated causing the filter to catch fire.
The chief says the upstairs portion of the museum filled up with light smoke.
“Crews were able to find the source, extinguish it and then cooled the fan off,” Harlow said.
There was no report of any damage to the museum, or exhibits.
