Students from Fogarty Elementary packed the auditorium to sing and honor police officers for the third annual Cake With Cops event on Tuesday morning.
The event, which began in 2016 by Leslie Cotton, started off with a slide show showcasing the various officers from the Guthrie Police Department (GPD), Logan County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) and other agencies.
The second and third graders belted out the song Heroes to law enforcement officers, who were placed in front of the auditorium.
Each officer in attendance was recognized for their years of service and what they enjoy the most about being an officer.
OHP, LCSO and GPD were presented with a framed popsicle stick project made by the students (picture above). The sticks were painted red, white and blue and formed into a U.S. flag with blue popsicles sticks in the middle to represent the Thin Blue Line.
Following the assembly, the officers enjoyed cakes and desserts in the lobby with students and staff members.
