Guthrie High School juniors and seniors saw first hand how dangerous drinking and driving, or texting behind the wheel can be with a mock drill on Monday afternoon.
The Guthrie FFA sponsored the exercise in conjunction with the upcoming prom on April 28.
The drill involved the Guthrie Police Department, Guthrie Fire Department, Mercy Hospital, Air Evac, Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Logan County Sheriff’s Office and Bowman’s Wrecker.
The event helped bring awareness to the dangers of driving under influence.
The accident was staged for a two-vehicle accident with five teens in one vehicle and a school teacher in another vehicle.
One teen was seen ejected from the vehicle, one teen taken to a medical helicopter, one student and a teacher taken in an ambulance and a teen driver arrested at the scene.
Good Job everyone! It takes a lot of coordination to an event like this off! Hope the kids keep this in mind not just for prom but always!
