With a few more details to completely finish, Harrison Ave. — in front of Jelsma Stadium — is once again open to motorists after years of detours.
In June 2017, the City was forced to reduce the weight restriction on Harrison AVe. following a bridge inspection, which once laid over the facility storage of Jelsma Stadium, that was built-in the 1930’s as part of the WPA project. Days later, the bridge was closed off to traffic forcing vehicles around the bridge area.

Young Contracting, LLC began the demolition of the existing structure in January. The company stabilized the existing rock wall of Jelsma Stadium, constructed concrete walls, drainage work, utility cut and caps, back fill and road way installation.
The total project came in at a cost of $519,211.20.
The City attempted to fund the project multiple times through the Association of Central Oklahoma Governments (ACOG) with grant applications, but were denied in October 2017 and February 2019 and were left to use local funds to complete the project.
