Video: Small plane catches fire at Guthrie Edmond Regional Airport

A small plane went up in flames Thursday afternoon at the Guthrie Edmond Regional Airport, prompting a quick response from emergency crews.

The Guthrie Fire Department, along with the Guthrie Police Department and Logan County Emergency Management, arrived at the scene shortly after 12:15 p.m. Upon arrival, they found the aircraft fully engulfed in flames just outside a hangar, with heavy smoke billowing into the sky.

Firefighters acted swiftly, taking only seconds to bring the flames under control and extinguishing the fire within minutes.

According to Fire Chief Dane Lausen, the plane had been undergoing maintenance for several months before the fire broke out. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The hangar’s door sustained minor heat damage, but the fire did not spread to any nearby structures.

Thick black smoke from the fire was visible across Division Street, drawing the attention of passersby.
