Guthrie Junior High School’s Abbie Eichler stood out to her junior high writing teacher as a spectacular student and person and nominated her for the school district’s student of the month.
Eichler, an eighth grade student, was recognized at the January Board of Education meeting as Guthrie Public Schools Student of the Month.
Eichler was nominated for humility as her special character trait.
“Abbie does not draw attention to herself when she goes above and beyond the expectations in the classroom, and graciously thanks those who notice her efforts and achievements,” Junior High teacher Samantha Wood (pictured right) said about Eichler.
“Not only is Abbie a hard worker and humble to fault, she improves the lives and attitudes of every class person she comes into contact with,” Wood explained.
Guthrie Public Schools and Blake Wimsey (pictured left) with Foundation Insurance have teamed up for the third straight year to honor students for the character traits. Teachers and faculty select students who have displayed behavior deserving of recognition.
For her efforts, Wimsey presented Eichler with a $60 gift card to Stacy’s Place.
Although there are no specific grade requirements, the student must be in good-standing in the classroom to be eligible. Overall, the district says they are searching for students who go above and beyond in the way they treat their peers and teachers.
