Logan County District 2 County Commissioner Mike Pearson said he is ready for retirement life as he spoke for the final time at the Board of County Commissioner’s meeting on Thursday.
Pearson was elected to three four-year terms in the district and reflected on those 12 years.
“I’ve done more than anybody has done to better the lives of the people in east Logan County,” Pearson said. “I’m quite aware of that because they continue to tell me that.”
Pearson, 73, says he looks forward to traveling as well as taking on new challenges.
“I really do enjoy challenges and that’s one of the things that I’m absolutely going to be doing in my retirement. I look for the future of Logan County to be quite good when it comes to economic development in this COVID environment.”
The commissioner took time to personally thank County Clerk Troy Clerk.
“Troy I cannot tell you how much I appreciate you being in that chair as the county clerk. You have done the most incredible job that I could not even dream how well you have done.”
Pearson acknowledge incoming commissioner Kody Ellis, who has been in attendance for the last several meetings as he prepares to take office on Jan. 4.
“I definitely look forward working with you – almost a commissioner,” Pearson said to Ellis. “I wish you the very best in being able to take care of our people in east Logan County.”
Ellis replied, “thank you.”
