In a ceremony held on Friday inside the Guthrie fire station, Guthrie Fire/EMS Captain Ryan Reeves was presented with the OG&E Safety Partner Award for January 2026. This prestigious honor, a collaboration between OG&E and the Oklahoma City Thunder, recognizes first responders who demonstrate exceptional dedication to safety and community service.
The ceremony featured speakers from the Oklahoma City Thunder and OG&E, who highlighted Captain Reeves’ commitment to innovative safety practices and proactive risk management. Along with the award, OG&E presented a $1,500 donation to the Guthrie Fire Department.
“We’re super excited to be here today,” said a spokesperson for the Oklahoma City Thunder. “The OG&E Safety Partner program is about honoring first responders who embody OG&E’s core values of teamwork, public service, integrity, and safety. Captain Reeves is a perfect example of someone who lives these values every day.”
Spencer Brown, Community Affairs Manager for OG&E, echoed these sentiments. “This award honors first responders who go above and beyond to protect and keep their communities safe. Ryan, you are incredibly deserving of this honor.”
Guthrie Fire/EMS Chief Dane Lausen praised Captain Reeves for his professional growth and dedication to the department. “Captain Reeves has consistently dedicated himself to improving both himself and others within the department,” Chief Lausen stated. “From obtaining his intermediate certification to his promotion to Captain and paramedic certification, he has always sought to provide the highest level of service to our citizens.”
Captain Reeves, a 19-year veteran of the Guthrie Fire Department, expressed his gratitude for the recognition. “I’m very thankful for this recognition from OG&E and the Oklahoma City Thunder. My goal has always been to be the best I can be at this job and keep this community safe.”
The OG&E Safety Partner Award is presented six times a year to deserving first responders across Oklahoma, celebrating those who make a significant impact on their communities through their commitment to safety and excellence.
