Watch: Guthrie sends off Special Jays to Olympic Games

School spirit was on full display Wednesday morning at Guthrie High School as the Special Jays received a send-off that many don’t get to have. The spirit continued along the escort route.

The high school band, cheerleaders, student section, and community members gathered to cheer proudly as the Olympians made their way out of the school and onto the bus. Multiple decorated signs were also on full display.

With an escort from the Guthrie Police Department and Territorial Riders, the Olympians were, once again, greeted by students from Fogarty Elementary who gathered on the front lawn to wave as the buses drove past them.

The next stop was Guthrie Junior High School with the same type of fanfare.

The athletes will compete against others in Stillwater over the next three days.
