Guthrie High School senior Rylin Wells has one season left for the Lady Jays golf team, but afterward, she will travel to Kansas and continue with collegiate golf.
Wells, the daughter of Bryan and Melissa Wells, signed her letter of intent on Tuesday with Friends University in Wichita. The signing occurred inside the school’s library surrounded by family, friends, and coaches, including Friends Head Coach Paul Howe.
This past season, Howe led the Falcons to a fourth-place finish at the KCAC tournament, their best showing in program history.
“We expect nothing but good things from you,” athletic director Jon Chappell told Rylin before signing the official documents.
Chappell thanked Rylin for always helping others when called upon.
“Every time I called you or needed you, you came running and do whatever you can for other people. That’s the best quality you have that I see. We wish you nothing but the best of luck.”
Head coach Jason Rice says she has been a great leader on the course.
“She’s been a great role model and I appreciate everything she has done for Guthrie girls’ golf.
