Watch: Stolen Oklahoma City vehicle recovered from Guthrie Lake after fishermen make discovery

The boat ramp at Guthrie Lake was temporarily closed on Sunday after a fisherman discovered a vehicle submerged near the ramp.

According to officials, the discovery was made when a fisherman was backing his boat into the water and noticed a vehicle underwater near the launch area. The fisherman initially believed the van was red and appeared to be from the 1980s or 1990s. However, once crews pulled the vehicle from the lake on Monday morning, it was identified as a blue Nissan Pathfinder.

Police later confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Oklahoma City.

Guthrie investigators are now working to determine how the stolen vehicle ended up in the lake and are continuing to gather details related to the case.

Detectives checked for missing persons reports within their jurisdiction, along with the surrounding agencies. No missing persons reports were found.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol dive team assisted at the scene, along with a wrecker service, to safely remove the vehicle from the water.
