William W. “Billy” Wheeler Jr. appointed as Guthrie Municipal Judge

Billy Wheeler is sworn in during the November 4 city council meeting by Mayor Adam Ropp.

The City of Guthrie announced the appointment of William W. “Billy” Wheeler Jr. as the new Municipal Judge.

Wheeler, who officially began his duties on November 1, 2025, transitions into the judicial role after years of dedicated service as the City Attorney.

Wheeler brings a wide range of legal experience to the bench, having served as City Attorney for Guthrie, Crescent, Del City, and Wellston, as well as Assistant District Attorney for Logan County. His background includes work in civil litigation, criminal defense, family law, and municipal law.

A Guthrie High School graduate, Wheeler earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1998 and holds a Bachelor of Arts in History, with a minor in Political Science, also from OU.

City officials praised Wheeler’s dedication and experience, noting his long-standing commitment to both the legal profession and the Guthrie community.
