2013 state championship football team to be honored at halftime

The last state championship football team for Guthrie will be recognized this Friday night.

The year was 2013 when the Bluejays last held the championship ball in the air. They did so with a perfect 14-0 record.

The team will be recognized on the field during halftime of the Bluejays game with Piedmont.

Despite a scare in the second round against Shawnee, the Jays outscored their four playoff opponents by a score of 159-58. In the championship game at Oklahoma State University, the Jays defeated McAlester, 51-21, for the program’s fourth title, including two in three years.

Players who plan to attend are encouraged to reach out to Coach Kelly Beeby or Athletic Director Jon Chappell.
