5th Street bridge reopens

After nearly a year of being shut down, the ever popular 5th Street bridge has reopened.

The bridge suffered significant damage in January 2018 by a construction company. Related article: 5th Street bridge heavily damaged by crane

Manhattan Road and Bridge Co. – based out of Tulsa – attempted to move a crane across the 5th Street bridge as they constructed the new Highway 33 bridge and roadway, but came to a halt on the north side as it sunk into the bridge. Once the crane was removed it left an obvious indention of approximately 40 feet long. Related article: Council approves 5th Street bridge repairs

The bridge was built in the mid 1960’s.

With construction of the new Cottonwood Creek Bridge, access from the 5th Street bridge is no longer available to State Highway 33.
