All State Games approaching for three Jays

All State week is fast approaching for the state of Oklahoma. A time that puts and end to one season and officially begins the next season.

Three former Guthrie student athlete’s will represent the Jays in this year’s games including Dustin Bohanan, Jaden Chappell, and John Cotton.

All State week is set for July 26th through the 30th in the Tulsa area.

Baseball, golf, and swimming kick starts the games on Monday and concludes Friday with the football game. The baseball game will be played at J.L. Johnson Stadium on the campus of Oral Roberts University.

Chappell and Cotton, who share numerous of the same honors this season, will play for the Large West and Deer Creek’s head coach Ron Moore. The first pitch is set for 7:30.

Chappell will move on to college baseball and play at Cowley County in Arkansas City, Kansas, while Cotton takes his talents to Southwestern in Weatherford.

Bohanan, who continued the streak to four years in a row and eight in the last nine years that a Guthrie football player has been named to the prestigious list, will take the field Friday night at Jenks’ Hunter-Dwelley Stadium, at 8:00.

Bohanan, who was a two-year starter for the Jays in the secondary, finished with 58 tackles and two interceptions in his senior campaign. Bohanan was also instrumental in the Jays wins over Duncan and Tulsa East Central.

Bohanan, who also participated in the 2010 Oil Bowl game, is currently preparing for the upcoming football season at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, in Miami (Ok), and join the Norsemen and 2009 Guthrie graduate Stanton Stevenson.

In addition to the games, All State week holds the annual coaches meetings.
