The Guthrie FFA chapter hosted the first chapter meeting of the year. This meeting is the annual ice cream social. All Guthrie FFA members 8th-12th grade are invited; 75 members attend. After a business meeting that addressed upcoming activities in the chapter, the attendees enjoyed some ice cream and then hit the field for water slide kickball.

The 75 students were divided into 4 teams, each playing the others. The games were enthusiastic and competitive. There was lots of slipping, sliding, and cheering going on around the field. Bonds were built while members were uplifting and encouraging each other during the game.

The purpose of the ice cream social is to get all the members excited about FFA and what is to come throughout the year. This event creates a fun-filled atmosphere for new and old members to interact and become friends. The friendships made in FFA are ones that last for a lifetime and can be very beneficial for your future.

“The Ice Cream Social got me excited about FFA and getting involved,” said 8th grade FFA member Tate Simmons. “ My favorite part of the water slide kickball was the dive and catch that I made and helped my team to win the game.”
