Blakley collects 200th win on Ashlee Eichler’s Senior Night

The post-game ceremonies were short and sweet for the Guthrie High School softball team Monday evening. It was the same exact scenario between the lines in a 2-0 win.

In just 73 minutes, Guthrie downed the Oklahoma City Broncos in front of a full house on Ashlee Eichler’s Senior Night.

In the bottom of the third inning, Ava Hebensperger delivered a two-run double to right field to plate to bring home the Eichler sisters (Ashlee and Abbie) for the game’s only runs.

The Broncos appeared they were going to get a rally going in the top of the sixth inning on what appeared to be a hit up the middle, but McKenna Tucker dashed in for a shoestring catch to erase the early threat.

Kinley Duehning kept the Broncos off the base paths for a good part of the game and allowed just two hits in six innings.

Along with Hebensperger’s hit, the Lady Jays got hits from Codi Hibbs, Ashlee Eichler and Katelynn Siess.

Guthrie improved to 19-7 on the season and will travel to Capitol Hill on Tuesday. The final home game of the regular season is set for Thursday with Putnam City at 5 p.m.

In the postseason, Guthrie will host one of the eight Class 5A regionals.

Booker Blakley wins number 200th career victory

Booker Blakley needed just 11 seasons to win 200 games.

Blakley coached Okarche High School to 110 wins from 2012 to 2018. Now in his fourth season in Guthrie, the coach has won 90 games.
