Bluejay Football Jr. Jays Camp now enrolling; deadline approaching

Guthrie football head coach Kelly Beeby has announced the 23rd annual BlueJay Football Youth Camp in May. The coach reminds parents to sign their athletes as soon as possible for the two-day event.

The deadline is April 19.

The camp will be held on May 7 and 8 at the BlueJay practice field, now known as the Clay Tarter Complex, behind Guthrie High School. A third day (May 9) has been set up in case the weather interrupts day one or two.

Coach Beeby says the camp will provide young athletes the opportunity to develop fundamental skills in a supervised, intense, organized, and enthusiastic atmosphere.

“Our coaches want to ensure the finest instruction we are capable of providing,” Beeby said.  He added the objective is “to provide young athletes the opportunity to develop fundamental skills in a supervised, intense, organized and enthusiastic atmosphere.”

Each camper who registers will receive drinks and the ever-popular camp t-shirt. Athletes can still attend following the deadline and can pay on the day of the event. Checks are to be made out to the Guthrie Football Camp.

The camp is open to current first-grade to seventh-grade students.

The cost of the camp is $25 (checks payable to Guthrie Football Camp) and includes registration, insurance, and a T-shirt. Forms can be dropped off at the school’s office where the student attends. Check-in time will be from 3:30 to 4 p.m. and the camp will run from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.

Athletes are asked to wear shorts, a T-shirt, and shoes each day.

The camp will be overlooked by both the high school and junior high coaching staff.
