Burn ban in place for Guthrie city limits

Update on March 6, 2014 — Due to Guthrie receiving over 1/2 inch of moisture within the past week, I feel that the immediate fire danger is somewhat less than it has been.  Therefore, effective immediately, I am lifting the city burn ban for the Guthrie City Limits.

Guthrie Fire Chief Eric Harlow has put in a burn ban in effect until further notice within the City Limits of Guthrie due to current fire danger and forecasted fire danger.

burn ban“There is no rain in the immediate future being forecast.  That, coupled with the dry, dormant fuels, there is an increased chance of a fire starting and spreading rapidly,” Harlow said.

“Therefore, no open burning will be allowed within the City Limits of Guthrie until further notice.”

Any currently issued burn permits will be considered invalid until the burn ban is lifted.  Those with permits that are unable to burn can come to the fire station to get their permit extended once the burn ban is lifted.
