Hello! We are excited to announce Mercy Logan Hospital joined the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce this week as a Platinum Sponsor! In 2011, the National Rural Health Association named it one of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in America. We look forward to working with them this year with our new programs and projects! They have already committed to provide First Aid to our First Capital Tri and the FreeWheel this year!

Territorial Christmas Committee will meet this Tuesday at 6:00 at the library. They are encouraging community involvement as they work to establish this full-time autonomous Committee this year. The committee will be devoted to making our Territorial Christmas Celebration events even more numerous and enjoyable than ever.  Their goal is to make this a truly community wide event, with participation from all of the residents of Guthrie. If you or your church, club or organization would like to be a part of this wonderful city wide effort, please contact the Chamber for more information, or better yet, come to the meeting on Tuesday.

The American Legion is having a Garage Sale in their building March 24th from 7a.m. to 3p.m. The money will be used to help local veterans.

The Logan County American Red Cross chapter has been working hard this week to raise money. Tuesday March, 27th they will have their Fifth Annual Taste of the Town! Featured restaurants include Dominion House, Boneyard Grill, Guthrie Job Corps Culinary Arts, Ricks Fine Chocolates, Stables Cafe, The Victorian Tea Room, Heavenly Cakes in Sweets, Roma’s Italian Restaurant, Gage’s Steak House and more! Purchase tickets for $25 at the door or by calling 405-282-1194.

God’s Food Bank will have a Bean Supper at the Presbyterian Fellowship Hall, Friday March 30th from 5p.m. To 8p.m. Tickets can be purchased from board members or by calling 620-4721.

Special Olympics will have their annual Spaghetti Dinner catered by Olive Garden, March 30, from 5p.m. To 7p.m. At Guthrie Upper Elementary. During the dinner tickets will be drawn for the 14 cash prizes and the Grand Prize of a John Deere Z225 zero turn mower, or $2000 cash prize. To participate in the ticket drawing, tickets are $50.00. Only 300 tickets are sold. Dinner for two at the Olive Garden Spaghetti dinner comes with your $50 donation. A silent auction will be available at this time as well. March  30-31 at the Logan County Fairgrounds, several things are happening!  Get Fit Logan County will have Area health agencies, retailers and restaurants will have displays and demonstrations throughout Saturday 9a.m. until 2p.m. The first 150 visitors will receive an insulated lunch bag. The Food Showdown  is modeled after the television show “Iron Chef” Teams of 2-3 create a dish from only a clue, predetermined ingredients and a common pantry. Teams must register by March 26.  There is a $12 fee per team.

This week’s Chamber Coffee will be hosted by Tapestry Graphics located at 117 W. Harrison, Suite 1. The Lenten Luncheon host church this week is First United Methodist church with Jerry Mash preaching.  Have a wonderful week in Guthrie!
