Our town is full of talented people! Byron Berline has written a book called the Fiddler’s Diary. He held a book signing this past Saturday at the Double Stop Fiddle Shop. The Oklahoma Metro Professional Photographers Association has recognized Heath Shelton, owner of Shelton’s Photography & Design in three categories: Best Wedding Album, Distinguished Bridal Portrait and Honorable Mention for Female Portrait.

Smart Start Logan County is having an Early Childhood Profile Breakfast, June 27 at 7:30 a.m. At the Granny Had One Event Center.  During your free breakfast they will discuss three childhood areas in Logan County: Economics and Employment, Demographic Trends and Health Indicators.  Everyone is welcome!

The 2nd Annual Open Noodlin Tournament is scheduled for June 29 at the Rock-A-Way Tavern, 7802 S. Sooner Road, Home of the National Geographic’s hit series, Mudcats! There will be a fish fry following the weigh-in along with music provided by John Goodson. Cash prizes to the winning team!

Have you ever thought of coaching someone who is having a hard time reading and writing? If so now is your chance! Volunteer tutors must be 18 years old and have completed the Literacy training workshop. The workshop is June 29 hosted by the Guthrie Public Library, Oklahoma Dept. of Libraries and the Logan County Literacy Coalition. Please rsvp to Cathy Clark at 282-0011 or Cyndi Selinger at 282-0050.The workshop is from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the First Christian Church, 402 E. Noble in the West Classroom.

This Friday, June 28 join the Summer Fun Party held at the Dominion House located at 602 E. College from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The proceeds will benefit the Maudie Hirschi Children’s Shelter; Tickets are $60 each or $1K for a table. There will be auction items, A Band, dancing, cocktails and dinner. Call 282-5524 to find out where to purchase tickets.

Congressman Lucas is holding a town hall meeting Tuesday, July 2 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Oklahoma Sports Museum, 315 W. Oklahoma Ave.

The Farmer’s Market is growing; please take time to support our local farmers every Saturday from 8a.m. to noon on First Street between Harrison and Oklahoma Avenue.
