Hi there! Hope your week is going well! August seems to be a busy month for everyone with kids, prepping for the start of school. Don’t forget Spoonful Pharmacy is taking donations to fill backpacks for Cotteral School!

The Pollard Theatre is celebrating their 28th season of performances! August 9 at 7 p.m. in the Sand Plum Event Center they will have their annual Gala with dancing, great food, and an auction. The proceeds from the Gala go to help subsidize the operation of The Pollard and ensure that they are able to continue to provide some of the best quality live theatre in Oklahoma. August 22 through September 13, the Pollard Theater presents “25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” Six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that winning isn’t everything and that losing doesn’t necessarily make you a loser. The show’s Tony Award winning creative team has created the unlikeliest of hit musicals about the unlikeliest of heroes: a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time, Parental Guidance.  To purchase tickets go online at thepollard.org.

The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus is coming to town, September 19 and 20! This circus is out of Hugo Oklahoma and entertained friends and families two years ago in Guthrie. Stay tuned for more information!

There are several live music venues in Guthrie. Legends has live music on The Patio every other Friday night, Halftime has music every weekend, Byron Berline’s Double Stop Music Hall has performances every second and fourth Saturday, Tuesday Jam Sessions at The American Legion, and the next Block Party has been announced for August 23 featuring Cactus Blossoms and Porch Mice! Guthrians should feel proud that we have so many venues and talented people to fill them. Get out and enjoy the wealth of entertainment around you.

The Guthrie Farmer’s Market is now accepting SNAP and EBT cards! The Farmer’s Market is located on First Street between Harrison Ave and Oklahoma Ave every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.

The Guthrie Job Corps Center will be celebrating their 50th Anniversary August 22. Congratulations to the center director and staff for doing such a great job in educating our youth and giving them life skills!

Next Wednesday, Aug. 13 Dr. Ashley Wilcoxson is hosting the Chamber Coffee followed by a Ribbon Cutting at Heller Chiropractic located at 1401 S. Division. Everyone is welcome! Have a wonderful week!
