Two men were arraigned on Monday afternoon in the Logan County Courthouse for their role in last week’s three-vehicle accident that turned into a manhunt for one person with a shotgun in hand.
On Jan. 22, a trooper with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol attempted to pull over a vehicle, but before that could happen the driver of the vehicle crashed into two other vehicles at the intersection of Poplar and Oklahoma Ave. Following the crash, one person took off running and witnesses say was carrying a shotgun in hand. Matthew Dale Blystone, 22, of Guthrie was taken into custody by law enforcement four to five blocks from the scene of the crash. The shotgun was found in a nearby alley. Blystone was charged with possession of sawed-off shotgun and obstructing an officer.
Brandon Darnell Braggs, 33, of Guthrie was arrested at the crash scene and charged with threaten to perform act of violence. Braggs was also arrested for outstanding warrants.
In his initial court appearance on Friday on the separate charges, Braggs, who appeared by video, pleaded to a judge not to send him jail. He said he was the driver and Blystone was the passenger who had the weapon. On Tuesday, as expected Braggs was charged with three additional charges, including possession of sawed-off shotgun, possession of firearm after former felony conviction and aggravated eluding of an officer. His bond was set for $100,000.
Blystone was given a $20,000 bond.
Both suspects are expected back in court on Feb. 19.
