Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children ages 1-12 years old.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that 59 percent of all car seats are installed improperly, increasing the risk of injury and death to children in the event of an accident, and have named Child Passenger Safety Week around the nation to increase awareness of the issue.
You can reduce the risk to your child by making sure they are in the right car seat and that the seat is installed and being used properly. Simply take your vehicle with the car seat(s) and your child(ren) to the Guthrie Fire Department, 209 East Springer Avenue, at any time for a free car seat check!
