Christmas Stocking program a continued success for students in need

First Christian Church is helping spread Christmas cheer at the Guthrie Public Schools again this year with the Christmas Stocking program.

The Christmas Stocking program has continued to grow over the past two years as the congregation and community adopt a stocking for a student in need and fill it with clothing, toys, food, hygiene items and much more.

The church supplied each elementary school, the Junior High and High School this year, totally over 175 stockings.

Counselors at each school help provide a list of how many boys and girls stockings are needed for those who participate in the backpack program. In addition, other students that teachers may identified as needing a little extra help this Christmas season.

The program is led by the church’s Christian Outreach Team. Stockings were delivered to the schools on Tuesday and will be distributed before the Christmas break.
