The Guthrie Fire Department is taking applications for the first ever Citizens Fire Academy.
It will mark the first time the fire department will hold a citizens academy and is structured much like the Citizens Government Academy and Citizens Police Academy. All three academy’s are in conjunction with the City of Guthrie.
The purpose of the fire academy is to help citizens gain a better understanding of their fire department and the services it provides. If accepted into the academy you will become better acquainted with the Guthrie Fire Department and understand the skills, knowledge and abilities of our fire protection service and participate in activities that simulate situations a firefighter may encounter.
You can participate in the Guthrie Citizen’s Fire Academy and be a part of strengthening the relationship between the fire department and its citizens. You can apply online under the “I Want To” tab from the home page of the city’s website. To apply online click this link: http://www.cityofguthrie.com/forms.aspx?FID=79
Classes will run from Thursday evenings starting March 29th until May 24th beginning at 6pm. (No class will be held on April 19th due to 89er Week). Classes will be held at the Fire Station located at 209 E. Springer Avenue.
